Killzone 3

For Helghan! I mean, ISA! Well, one of them.

Well, the past few weeks I have finally started playing the Killzone 3 multiplayer. Probably a mistake but I will get into that later. Being this is a first person shooter, a lot of people look at the multiplayer over the single player campaign. So, my first review post probably didn't sit well with those accustomed to reviews. But, you can't review what you have not played.

First things first, Killzone 3 multiplayer is quite a bit different than Killzone 2. Granted, the general concept is the same. Play the maps, kill some opponents, maybe fall to your death, blow crap up, and maybe even capture some control points. However, the way you unlock stuff is the main difference besides the maps.

In Killzone 2, you had to unlock everything by completing goals in multiplayer. This even included classes. Now, you have all the classes available to you. Each time you level, you get unlock points. You can than use these unlock points to unlock the skills, abilities, and weapons for the various classes. In my opinion, this isn't a better way to do things, but this way isn't any worse either. Really, this allows you to concentrate more on what you want to do right away. It may just take you longer to unlock as much as you had before.

Now, I mentioned earlier that it might have been a bad idea to play the multiplayer. This actually is not a bad thing. I just find the the multiplayer to be so much fun. This may be a bold claim, but I have more fun playing this game's multiplayer over any other recent multiplayer.

Let's see, the game is beautiful, the game is fun, and the game lets you do what you want. Oh, there are also a lot fewer idiot minors playing it than the high end multiplayer games on that other system. Yep, this game and its multiplayer is a definite must play. See you on the battlefields!

Fight The Good Fight

So, I finally got back and got my preordered Killzone 3. When I play a game, I always play and beat the single player campaign before anything. So, that is what I did. This little post will be about the single player aspect of the game. Multiplayer will have its own post.

So, was the campaign good? Overall, yes. The game is gorgeous. The cutscenes kept me interested. The story was intriguing. The ending sucked.

There were a few levels that were pretty crazy. The way this game makes you feel like you are right there with your character is surprisingly good. The chaos on some of the battlefields is really what brought this out.

There were a few gripes. First, the one character for the ISA is a smoking hot girl. There is no way in hell that there would be a girl looking like that in a battlefield. Next, the campaign is extremely short. I beat the game in less than 12 hours. Not sure exactly but I want to say 6 hours with doing a little bit of exploring and not really trying. And finally, I wish they had it where you used a variety of weapons more. I felt like I was only using a few most of the time.

Now, I would go into depth on what I really liked about the single player. Unfortunately, that would make this post pretty much a novel and I would rather keep things short and sweet. There are just that many good things about it.

So, if you have not gone out and bought Killzone 3 or played the single player campaign and you own a PS3, you should be getting off your butt, and either getting Killzone 3 or putting it into your console to play the single player campaign.

Have a PS3? Buy Killzone3

First Person Shooters happen to be the genre where it is at. They are fun. You make one that is good and you are rolling in money. And, it is probably the most abused genre as well.

Take for instance, Killzone. This game was for the PS2. It wasn't bad. It wasn't great. It was supposed to be the Halo killer. Yes, Halo has that prestige. Anyways, it was mediocre. Yet, it still sold pretty decent and was fun to play.

Than, Killzone 2 came around. This time it came out on the PS3 and it was eye candy times 2. It was also a lot of fun. If you disagree, you are either a halo or Modern Warfare fanboy. I remember getting a Beta invite and it was easily the most fun I ever had playing "online." I still recommend this game to anyone who cares to listen.

Now, in a few days Killzone 3 will be released. Have I played it? No. Does it matter? No. However, it builds on its predecessor so that can only mean goodness for the shooter genre. So, what are you waiting for? Preorder it now or just wait and buy it on release date if you are lucky.
