PS3 Kinect

on Monday, 21 March 2011. Posted in PS3

First, let me say one thing. I am not a big fan of the Kinect. In fact, since day one I have either claimed it a upgraded EyeToy or impractical for gaming use. In fact, my view has changed. Don't worry, my feeling for the Move setup and the Wii are not much better. Ok, now that is out of the way, let's get to the nitty gritty.

Apparently, this one guy is working on getting the Kinect to work on the PS3. In fact, it is working in very limited fashion. The guy's name is Shantanu Goel . Look him up. Pretty interesting project he has going on and he is accepting help from the community. So if you got the knowledge and the cojones, you might want to help him out.

Check out the video where he actually shows it in use.

Fight The Good Fight

So, I finally got back and got my preordered Killzone 3. When I play a game, I always play and beat the single player campaign before anything. So, that is what I did. This little post will be about the single player aspect of the game. Multiplayer will have its own post.

So, was the campaign good? Overall, yes. The game is gorgeous. The cutscenes kept me interested. The story was intriguing. The ending sucked.

There were a few levels that were pretty crazy. The way this game makes you feel like you are right there with your character is surprisingly good. The chaos on some of the battlefields is really what brought this out.

There were a few gripes. First, the one character for the ISA is a smoking hot girl. There is no way in hell that there would be a girl looking like that in a battlefield. Next, the campaign is extremely short. I beat the game in less than 12 hours. Not sure exactly but I want to say 6 hours with doing a little bit of exploring and not really trying. And finally, I wish they had it where you used a variety of weapons more. I felt like I was only using a few most of the time.

Now, I would go into depth on what I really liked about the single player. Unfortunately, that would make this post pretty much a novel and I would rather keep things short and sweet. There are just that many good things about it.

So, if you have not gone out and bought Killzone 3 or played the single player campaign and you own a PS3, you should be getting off your butt, and either getting Killzone 3 or putting it into your console to play the single player campaign.

Blast From The Past: Infamous

While new games are awesome, it is important to take a look back at the old games that lead up to this awesome. In fact, a lot of these old games were and possibly still are awesome.

Take inFamous for example. This game was the game to have back in the day for the PS3. You played as Cole. A super human bad ass with shocking abilities.

I played it back in the day but never actually bought it. Guess what, I just bought it a couple of days ago and it is still pretty sweet. The fact that it adds a comic book style story so will is also pretty impressive.

It does get a repetitive with some of the tasks that you are given and the different factions share similar characteristics. However, it is still a must play.

Have a PS3? Buy Killzone3

First Person Shooters happen to be the genre where it is at. They are fun. You make one that is good and you are rolling in money. And, it is probably the most abused genre as well.

Take for instance, Killzone. This game was for the PS2. It wasn't bad. It wasn't great. It was supposed to be the Halo killer. Yes, Halo has that prestige. Anyways, it was mediocre. Yet, it still sold pretty decent and was fun to play.

Than, Killzone 2 came around. This time it came out on the PS3 and it was eye candy times 2. It was also a lot of fun. If you disagree, you are either a halo or Modern Warfare fanboy. I remember getting a Beta invite and it was easily the most fun I ever had playing "online." I still recommend this game to anyone who cares to listen.

Now, in a few days Killzone 3 will be released. Have I played it? No. Does it matter? No. However, it builds on its predecessor so that can only mean goodness for the shooter genre. So, what are you waiting for? Preorder it now or just wait and buy it on release date if you are lucky.
